As winter aggravates joint pain and stiffness for arthritis patients, experts suggest that relief may begin in the kitchen. Dr. Syed Nadeem Abbas, recommends replacing regular cooking fats with extra virgin olive oil, rich in oleocanthal, a compound that mimics painkillers by reducing inflammation. Supported by the Arthritis Foundation, he also advises adding anti-inflammatory foods like oily fish, turmeric, ginger, nuts, and colorful vegetables for better joint health.
