2026 UGC rules: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has notified new equity rules in January to stop caste-based discrimination in colleges and universities. But the rules have led to massive protests by general category students who argue that the new UGC equity rules might lead to chaos on the campuses. An 'aggreived' person can file the complaint and the Equity Committee must convene within 24 hours.
