The border between India and Nepal is unlike most international frontiers. People cross it every day without visas or passports. Families meet, traders do business and workers travel for jobs. This open border has its roots in a treaty signed 75 years ago. The Treaty of Peace and Friendship, inked on July 31, 1950, remains the cornerstone of ties between the two neighbours.
