Mumbai Metro Line 3 Must Hit 1.56 Million Riders Daily For Real Emission Cuts, IIT Study Finds

A new study by IIT Bombay and Manipal Institute of Technology reveals that Mumbai Metro 3’s environmental benefits hinge heavily on high ridership and renewable power. While the Aqua Line can cut up to 155 tonnes of CO₂ daily at full capacity, anything below 1.1 million riders risks the metro producing more emissions than it saves, the research warns.
