How Maharashtra’s 10% EWS quota in medical admissions will work, what questions it raises

The enabling provision for the EWS quota introduced in the Constitution by the 103rd Amendment Act of 2019 says private unaided institutions will come under the purview of the reservation. There is concern, however, that the quota, if implemented without increasing overall seats, will reduce the number of seats for applicants in the general (unreserved) category.
