Hitting the gym to beat diabetes? Science says this one workout might work better than the rest

A new study by Virginia Techs Fralin Biomedical Research Institute suggests that lifting weights may be more effective than running for controlling blood sugar and lowering diabetes risk. Published in the Journal of Sport and Health Science, the research found that resistance training improves insulin sensitivity, burns more visceral fat, and enhances metabolism. While both cardio and strength workouts help, combining the two offers the best protection against diabetes.
