Finance Ministry plans to broaden Actuaries Act scope beyond insurance, pensions

The finance ministry is set to update the Actuaries Act, 2006. This will expand actuarial science to include data science and risk management. A new framework for regulating actuarial firms will also be introduced. These changes aim to modernize the profession and meet growing economic needs. The bill is expected in the monsoon session. Stakeholder consultations are currently underway.
