Former BCCI chef Arun Chauhan revealed that Virat Kohli was once a self-confessed foodie who enjoyed oily foods and favourites like chole bhature, rajma chawal, and non-vegetarian dishes before transforming his diet as part of his fitness journey. According to Chauhan, Kohli’s admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo and growing focus on performance motivated him to adopt a more disciplined eating pattern centred on vegetarian foods, including tofu, salads, sprouts, dal, and vegetables. Fitness expert Garima Goyal said Kohli’s evolution underscores the importance of nutrition in athletic performance, highlighting how mindful eating, portion control, meal timing, and sustainable dietary habits can improve energy, recovery, body composition, and long-term health. She added that successful fitness transformations are driven not by fad diets or superfoods, but by consistent, personalised choices that align with an individual’s goals and lifestyle.
