European Stocks Gain 0.3% as Defence Shares Surge Following Venezuela Developments

European stocks gained 0.3% on Monday as the STOXX 600 extended early-year gains, led by defence shares which surged 2.7% following U.S. military action in Venezuela. Technology and basic resources sectors also posted strong gains of 2.1% and 2.0% respectively, while mining stocks benefited from higher copper prices and ASML jumped 3.9% on an analyst upgrade.
