Copper rises, as metal surges towards best performance in over 16 years

Due to concerns of a tighter global market in 2026, copper prices have risen to new highs above $12,000 per tonne, continuing a strong December gain. Expecting that a rush of metal to the US, intended to avoid potential import duties, will leave buyers in the rest of the world in a difficult position, investors have poured money into copper.
