Archana Puran Singh recently revealed that she prefers having dinner as early as 5 pm, prompting experts to explain how early dinners can affect the body. Dietitians say eating earlier in the evening may improve digestion, reduce acidity and bloating, support better sleep, and help control late-night snacking linked to weight gain and poor metabolic health. However, experts stress that the ideal dinner timing depends on a person’s lifestyle, sleep schedule, work routine, and hunger patterns. While early dinners may support weight management when combined with balanced meals, exercise, and good sleep, they may not suit everyone—especially people with late-night schedules, intense workouts, diabetes, or certain medical conditions. Health experts generally recommend maintaining a 2–3 hour gap between dinner and bedtime and choosing lighter, balanced meals instead of heavy late-night foods.
