Accused Can't Be Denied Access to Documents Forming Part of Chargesheet: SC

The Supreme Court has ruled that an accused cannot be denied access to documents forming part of the chargesheet, even if marked highly confidential, as withholding them can seriously prejudice the right to a fair trial. In a case under the Official Secrets Act involving retired Major General V K Singh, the court ordered that typed copies of classified documents be supplied for his defence, while imposing strict conditions to protect national security and prevent any public circulation.
